Feliz Navidad

Hola everyone and feliz navidad!

Ok so Monday night after emailing Hermana Espinoza went up to Albuquerque so she could head home so I got to be an english missionary for a little bit with one of the sister training leaders! I also realized that I have a hard time speaking english now. Spanglish is my vida.

So Tuesday morning we go to the transfer meeting to pick up my new companion! Her name is Hermana Gonnuscio and we came out on the mission at the same time! She just went to the MTC in Provo instead of Mexico for some reason. But she's super awesome and she got trained by a greenie just like me so neither of us fully know what we're doing but we have a great time doing it!

So Tuesday night I was giving her a low down of the area, including all of Beyonce's recent history in about every car shop in Cruces and of course I just had to say "but we should be fine now! I mean what else could go wrong with her?" So naturally the next morning our engine starts making an awful noise and the rpms are going crazy so we drive her right over to the dealership (and when I walked in they knew me by name. not a good sign) and they kept her overnight but couldn't find anything wrong with her.

So we got to ride the busses for another day and I should be a professional bus route reader at this point. We got her back Friday night and she started freaking out again and so we called our vehicle coordinator again and we figured out that the cause of the problem was this little box called a Tiwi.

Tiwi is in every mission car and it regulates our speed and rpm and makes sure you don't drive aggressively and stuff, which is a really good idea but of course everyone hates it. So I guess it was messing with our engine somehow so I got to kill our Tiwi! Merry Christmas to us! All of the other missionaries are so jealous. And to top of a great week on Sunday as I was playing the prelude before sacrament meeting the stake president walks in and all of a sudden men are carrying in a brand new piano that plays the hymns all by itself! All I have to do is push a button now! That makes my Sundays a whole lot easier!

Ok missionary work wise we weren't able to do too much this week. Almost everyone went down to Juarez in Mexico for the holidays so we're just going around singing Christmas carols a lot so it's pretty fun! And people are always surprised when two little white girls can sing in Spanish.

Everything is fantastic here, the people are so amazing! One of the hermanas in the ward has been feeling pretty awful and when we went to visit her I couldn't stop crying because I just love her so much and I knew I couldn't do much to help. I have always loved the people here since I got my mission call but I never realized that I would grow to love them this much. I can't even imagine how much more our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ love us. It's just absolutely astounding to me. I'm so grateful to be able to spend this Christmas season sharing some of that love that I get to feel with the people here of Las Cruces. Love you all and feliz navidad!

Hermana Martin
