Merry almost Christmas!

Hola everybody!

Merry almost Christmas!

This is the greatest time of year to be a missionary because there are more people willing to listen and talk with us, and it's super easy to go contacting because we can just carol and share a quick Christmas message! It's the best

So this week it was basically in the 70's all week, because that's just mid-December Texas weather I guess, and so we're out in short sleeves, singing Christmas songs as we knock doors, and a lady let us in and gave us a bunch of middle eastern candy. It was the most random and wonderful day!

Our super delicious middle eastern candy!
We weren't able to teach too much this week. We don't have a ton of investigators any more and our really solid one was in Juarez all week helping her grandmother, so we got to see a lot of members!

We're doing this super cool thing here that our mission president introduced called The Living Christmas Card. So basically people send us to people they want to send a Christmas card to, we carol, come in and read Luke 2 with them, bear our testimonies of the Savior, pray, sing another carol, and leave! Like max 10 minutes. And it's great because more members are more comfortable sending us to their friends since we're just going to deliver a really cute Christmas message and who doesn't love Christmas?! So it's been great talking with members and introducing the idea, and we should be able to "deliver" a lot of Living Christmas Cards this week!

Our ward spoils us so bad and the Relief Society sisters all chipped in to buy us these baskets of Christmas presents!
So we had a zone conference this week to talk about every thing that we learned with Elder Pearson, and to just generally talk about Christmas. SOOO every zone conference basically they ask all of the missionaries to prepare a 5 minute talk about a certain topic and they call on a few missionaries to give their talks and it's all a surprise. This time we were asked to pick our favorite prophecy of Christ's birth from the Book of Mormon and talk about it. I gave a 5 minute talk last year in the December zone conference, the one right before I went back home, so I figured I'll never have to give a talk again, right?

I assume you see where this is going.

Luckily I had at least thought about what scripture to pick and generally what I would say if I did get called, so when they called my name to go up I didn't freak out too much! It actually went pretty well, I'm so grateful for the guidance of the Spirit! And one part that I LOVED was when President Guffey went through with us all of the prophecies of Christ's birth that are found in the Book of Mormon and we were able to just talk all together about what that really meant for the people back in those times, and what it means for us now.

I highly encourage you all to go through the list (I'll write all of the scriptures we found) and to really study and think of what those prophecies meant for those people writing them, and what Christ's birth means to you individually.

My favorite, the one I shared in my talk, is the story found in 3 Nephi 1, Christmas in the Americas! It made me really realize what hope Christ brought into the world. His birth was the start of all hope here in this life. He still had a whole life to live, a lot of things to teach and to do, but His birth meant that finally, our Savior had come. I'm so eternally grateful for what Christ's life and sacrifice mean for me personally, and how I've seen Him help our investigators and members and the people that I am so blessed to know here. I love Christmas because I love my Savior with everything I am.

Merry Christmas everyone, have fun and stay safe!
